The Seidel Family receive The Bethlehem Passport |

| | Greetings, Family & Friends,
We wanted to send out one final update before we leave this coming
Friday from Palestine.
Today, June 2, 2007, the three of us were honored with a special ceremony
at the office of the Bethlehem Governor, Salah Al-Tamari. We received
Bethlehem Passports, which grant us honorary citizenship in this town.
It’s not quite possible to put into words how much and what this means
to us. |

The passports are given through a local organization called Open Bethlehem. |
The hope is that the book will serve to advocate for the town as
well as to generate income for Open Bethlehem’s campaign.
Chris will be working to promote the book in North American once we
return. More information on how to order the book will follow at some
point.
| It began in 2005 and is an international public relations campaign
addressing the state of emergency in Bethlehem, to open this global city
up to the global community, and to keep the town alive despite the odds
against it currently.
Chris has been also been working closely with Open Bethlehem. After writing
and illustrating a children’s book called Bethlehem’s Star, she donated
it to the organization. MCC is currently funding the initial printing
and promotion of this book. |
Finally, we just want to thank you all again for your love and
support these past three years. A huge piece of our hearts will remain
here in this, our second home. Leaving is difficult and we know the
transition ahead will hold a great deal of challenges. Please continue
to pray for us in this time, and continue to pray for the people in
this broken land.
